REGULATORY FRAMEWORK: KNOWING BASICS

An individual who is a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India is described as a “Company Secretary” under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980.

According to the Companies Act, 2013, a Company Secretary, as established by the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, who is appointed by a company to perform the duties of the Company Secretary under the Companies Act, 2013, is referred to as a “company secretary” or “Secretary.”

COUNCIL OF THE INSTITUTE

According to Section 9 of the Company Secretaries Act of 1980, the Institute shall have a Council for the management of the Institute’s affairs and the discharge of the duties delegated to it by or under this Act. It also sets out the composition and eligibility criteria, which aren’t especially applicable to our course curriculum.
